Introducing the New Darcie

The Number Is 4

While I can't comment on this first hand, I received a call from the main Sylvia and Co. branch today that Sylvia took four steps! Apparently she had a puzzle piece in one hand and a ball in the other so made the decision to take a few steps without the aid of parental support. I will fill in the details as they are made available.

A Step!

Exciting news today! During Wiggleworms (our weekly music class at the Old Town School of Folk Music), Sylvia took one gloriously exciting step. There were no hands to hold onto and she was dying to get her hands on Julie (our teacher) and the puppet cow! So for a brief moment, Sylvia's right foot lifted off the ground and took a step forward. I thought she was going to go for the second, but then she remembered what a super-duper crawler she is and she got down on her knees to reach Old MacDonald's cow who of course, goes - a moo, moo here, and a moo, moo there.

She loves to practice walking holding on to our hands and has recently started walking with just one hand.

Weathering the Storm

If anyone was worried about us after yesterday's massive storms in the Chicago area, fear not. We are safe and we even have our power. The storm (actually two storms with another on the way) hit the area pretty hard causing flooding, damage to buildings, and the loss of power to some 245,000 people. Major expressways were closed due to flooding. All of Chris' office was sent to the basement during the tornado watch. Darcie and Sylvia decided to watch through the window.

Today, because Chris' office is still without power, he gets to enjoy a "storm day" with the family.

Beginning All Over Again

If anyone checked out the blog in the past 24 hour, you would have seen a very ugly thing. Due to some software issue, all images were replaced with big X's. We here at Sylvia & Co. take our images very seriously.

We are testing out a new web-building application, so we'll see how it goes. Of course, we'll be marching ahead, but we would also like to recreate the lost blog entries over the next few weeks.
